Mudskipper Battle 201108

Sungai Temonyong – Langkawi

This morning I went back to the Temonyong Creek. I was lucky to see a Laced Woodpecker and a Black-headed Bulbul.

The mudskipper warns off the encroacher by raising the middle fin. If this does not work they will indulge in gaping to see who is boss.

Gaping mouths and raised dorsal fins are a sign of aggression.

Temoyong Creek 201106

Sungai Temonyong – Langkawi

The day started off nice and sunny and it was quite hot after 8am. I went to the road going to the fishing harbour at Sungai Temonyong. I was not expecting a great deal of birds, but it was quite good, with a decent variety, but nothing new.

Bukit Malut 201105

Bukit Malut Road

This morning I went to the Hutan Simpan Kekal Bukit Malut – a Permanent Forest Reserve consisting of 1239 hectares. Most of it was pretty nice jungle. I was expecting some sort of activity, and there was a little but not a lot.

New Road 201103

Road past Hornbill Resort – Langkawi

I found a new road that goes past the Hornbill Resort. On one side is a hill with lots of jungle bush and on the other side was rice paddies.

Cenang Reed Beds

This morning I got up late. I went down to the beach to take some photos of the surfers but it was flat. So off I went to Cenang Reed Beds. Nothing new but a couple of nice photos.
