Mekong River Birding.
I had thought that this was the first time that I had seen the Mekong River at Chiang Khong, but I had driven over it in the bus going through Thaton on the way to Doi Mae Salong.
This is the slow boat coming back from Luang Prabang. Most of the tourists go the other way, down river to Pak Beng, then stay the night and continue on the next day to Luang Prabang in Laos. I can hear the music over the river right now coming from the Laos side. I will be going over there tomorrow.

Red-whiskered Bulbul (Pycnonotus jocosus)
In the afternoon I took a stroll along the river hoping to see some birds. This one was in the back yard of my hotel. There were also a number of Sooty-headed Bulbul (Pycnonotus aurigaster klossi) as well.

juvenile Pied Fantail (Rhipidura javanica)
This one is a juvenile with its dirty front.

Pied Fantail (Rhipidura javanica)
And this one is an adult.

Dark-necked Tailorbird(Orthotomus atrogularis)
I was lucky to see this one perched on the wire as I was heading back for the night.
