Chinaman Pool – Gascoyne River

Yesterday afternoon late I went down to the Chinaman Pool, which is on the Gascoyne River, just out of Carnarvon. There was a bit of water in the river, so there were a few birds around.

Wood Sandpiper

Wood Sandpiper (Tringa glareola)

I think this is a breeding adult Wood Sandpiper.

Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike

Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike (Coracina novaehollandiae subpallida)

The paler sub-species subpallida breeds in the Pilbara.

 Hardhead

Hardhead (Aythya australis)

This is a male Hardhead. I cannot remember seeing one out of the water yet.

Australasian Grebe

Australasian Grebe (Tachybaptus novaehollandiae)

Black Swan

Black Swan (Cygnus atratus)
