Sheringa Beach to Venus Bay

Sheringa Beach has a nice camping area for $10 a night with lots of shady trees near the lagoon behind the sand dunes.

There were a heap of Silvereye in the bushes next to the lagoon.

A big close-up of the nictitating eye of the Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater.

Musk Duck and Australian Shelduck

The Musk Duck (Biziura lobata) below and the Australian Shelduck (Tadorna tadornoides) above, both female.

Banded Lapwing and Common Greenshank

Banded Lapwing (Vanellus tricolor) and Common Greenshank (Tringa nebularia)

Lake Newlands has got three gates to open and close before you get to it. And the lake was totally dry. Full of salt. All I found was a small waterhole with some Banded Lapwings. I did see a black snake slithering away on the road in and some Australian Pipits.

Port Lincoln Parrot

Port Lincoln Parrot – Australian Ringneck (Barnardius zonarius zonarius)

I saw the sign to the Kulliparu Conservation Park, so I turned off. Before the park, I found a water trough meant for the cattle but found a bunch of parrots drinking away.

Mulga Parrot

Mulga Parrot (Psephotus varius)

I think this is a male and female Mulga Parrot. Not sure which is which.

Southern Whiteface

Southern Whiteface (Aphelocepala leucopsis)

The last stop before Venus Bay was the Talia Caves, where I saw hundreds of Welcome Swallow and one Common Sandpiper bobbing his tail on the rock shelf.
