Goa Birding Eight

Divar Island – Tuesday.

I went back to Divar Island this morning on the scooty. There were a few waders on the mudflats along a bit of a creek.

Crested Lark
Crested Lark (Galerida cristata)

I spotted a bunch of Crested Larks on the football field and stayed on the road, under cover of a bit of bush so I would not spook them. It worked. Thanks to the dudes on the Indian Bird id group on facebook for the identification. Bushlarks etc are a nightmare for me to ID. I have no idea.

Richard's Pipit
Richard’s Pipit (Anthus richardi)

I could not decide between Paddyfield Pipit and Richard’s Pipit but went with Richard because of the long claws.

Check out those massive hind claws.

Lesser Sand Plover
Lesser Sand Plover (Charadrius mongolus)

I think this one has got a little bit of breeding plumage happening.

Common Redshank
Common Redshank (Tringa totanus)

Black-headed Ibis

I was hoping to get a decent shot of a Montagu’s Harrier but it took off never to return as soon as I spotted it.
