Katherine Gorge

This is day two at Katherine Gorge, otherwise known as Nitmiluk National Park. In the afternoon, I went for a stroll along the southern walk. It was pretty disappointing and I saw nothing except a juvenile White-gaped Honeyeater feeding on some mistletoe.

White-throated Gerygone

White-throated Gerygone (Gerygone olivacea rogersi)

This morning there were a few more birds around. I went for a walk along the river, past the boat ramp and beneath the cliffs until it started to climb up the hill. That was enough for me.

Great Bowerbird

Great Bowerbird (Chlamydera nuchalis)

This Great Bowerbird was feasting on some wild fruit.

Northern Rosella

Northern Rosella (Platycercus venustus)

And this Northern Rosella was feeding on the same stuff.

White-gaped Honeyeater - juvenile

White-gaped Honeyeater (Stomiopera unicolor)

This White-gaped Honeyeater is a juvenile with no white gape but a thin yellow stripe below the bill.

White-gaped Honeyeater (Stomiopera unicolor)

This adult White-gaped Honeyeater has got the standard white gape before the eye.

Bar-shouldered Dove

Bar-shouldered Dove (Geopelia humeralis inexpecta)

This Bar-shouldered Dove has got a pale skin around the eye and a yellow eye. I suspect it is a young one.

Agile Wallaby

Agile Wallaby

This fella was feeding around my camp site early in the morning. He is totally used to humans.
