Little River Bird

Carpentaria Highway

After Mataranka, I headed down the Stuart Highway to Daly Waters, where I filled up my water, then turned left on to the Carpentaria Highway. I stopped in at the Little River bridge and camped the night. And in the afternoon and morning went for a walk looking for birds. In the morning I carried on to Cape Crawford where I filled up with petrol at $2 a litre and turned right to go down the Tablelands Highway towards the Barkly Highway. The highway was horrendous. It was a one lane tarred and pitted patch. Cars came flying towards you and went off the side of the ride, spraying you with rocks. Not a good place for a broken windscreen. Most of the time I just stopped and let the loonies have the road.
