Hotel Kangaroo.

After the tranquility of Finca Ixobel, I caught an air-conditioned bus to Rio Dulce, where I rang up for a lancha to the hotel on the water, the Kangaroo Hotel. More tranquil bliss, I cannot stand it!

This morning I caught a colectivo to Finca Paraiso. There is a hot waterfall there. It drops into a cold river. I think it comes out of a volcano or something. But it was nice swimming in the pool and having a sauna in the cave behind it. Oh, and I photographed a Green Kingfisher.

The main distinguishing marks are the small size (20 cms) and the spots on the wings.

Ringed Kingfisher
Ringed Kingfisher (Megacryle torquata)

The worst photo ever seen of a Ringed Kingfisher. #recordshot

Louisiana Waterthrush
Louisiana Waterthrush (Parkesia motacilla)

Fantastic to see the Louisiana Waterthrush again. I last saw this at Palenque in Mexico.

Green Heron
Green Heron (Butorides virescens)

There are Green Heron wherever there is water in Guatemala. They look wonderful.

Turkey Vulture
Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura)

It has been a while since I posted a photo of a Turkey Vulture, but they are everywhere as well as Black Vultures.
