Woody Lake Esperance

Kepwari Walk Trail

Yesterday afternoon I went to Woody Lake, just out of Esperance on the south coast of Western Australia. It was very productive. I saw the Western Australian endemic, the Western Wattlebird as soon as I got out of my car. They were everywhere feeding on the banksias. As well as the water birds around the lake, there were numerous bush birds in the surrounding heathlands.

The western chloronotus subspecies has green mantle and yellow undertail-coverts.
