Riverina Birding.

The Narrandera Wetlands are on the edge of town and by the Murrumbidgee River. The local people have done a wonderful job rehabilitating the site, getting rid of exotic plants and replacing them with native trees and bushes.

Australian Magpie in nest
Australian Magpie (Gymnorhina tibicen)

Amazingly these magpies did not swoop me. As is per usual with these birds during spring. Notice the bits of string and assorted crap that make up the nest.

Yellow Rosella
Crimson Rosella (Platycercus elegans flaveolus)

The Yellow Rosella is a sub-species or race flaveolus of the Crimson Rosella. Unless they have changed the taxonomy, with which I am way out of date.

Grey Teal
Grey Teal (Anas gracilis)

These were about the only water-birds on the pond. Probably there was too much water because of recent rains.

Yellow-rumped Thornbill
Yellow-rumped Thornbill (Acanthiza chrysorhoa)

Lot of these little fellas flitting around the bushes. I also saw Little Friarbirds and Noisy Friarbirds. Not much else.
